In line with the Government of Bahrain’s aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2060, and contribute in achieving global climate security.

The Bahrain International Circuit committed to making the Formula 1 Grand Prix green, by offsetting the energy used during Race Weekend with Solar Energy.

7,125 Solar Panels were installed in the Bahrain International Circuit Parking on shading structures utilising a total area of 30,480 square meters. A Solar PV system with a minimum capacity of 3.48 MWac and a minimum guaranteed annual electricity generation of 5.5 MWp.

In March 2022, the Formula 1 Grand Prix was powered by renewable energy. Following its success, the Government of Bahrain announced the 72 MWp Solar Farm project.
