Two domes in the Bahrain International Circuit suffered from major acoustic issues which have translated into long echoes and whispering domes.
Due to the absence of acoustic treatments in both spaces, any sound as quiet as a whisper can be heard throughout the tent and echoes for a relatively long time, resulting in a highly reverb space. Platform 78 were appointed to advise and propose a solution to mitigate the issue.
The acoustics of the dome were significantly improved by installing sound absorption panels applied along the circumference of the structure and hung from the ceiling. The solution was broken down into three steps in accordance to the surface area of the applied acoustic panels in relation to the total surface area of the dome.
