To encourage the use of more sustainable modes of transportation, and promote a healthier lifestyle, the Government of Bahrain is planning the development of several cycling paths around the Kingdom including the Southern District Cycle Path.
The Southern District Cycle Path project is split into two phases. Phase One is to build a closed loop 51 km cycle path in the Southern District. While Phase Two is part of a broader future-plan, to build an additional 36 km of cycle path linking Phase One to Riffa Views.
